Building your own self hosted Wordpress Website

This demo class takes you step by step through the process of setting up your own self hosted Wordpress Website or Blog. If you are unfamiliar with these terms it means that you will need to purchase a domain name of your own and sign up to a hosting company, this is not expensive, less than £5.00 per month.

The difference with using a self hosted site, is that you get to use your own unique domain name, so for example as an alternative to In addition you are in more control and do not have to have the hosting company's adverts on your site. There are other benefits to being self hosted but suffice to say, the majority of people would recommend a self hosted site if you are serious about blogging, or/and you need a professional looking website.

In addition to your monthly hosting fee, you will need to purchase a Wordpress Theme. These start from around £35.00, but once you have your Theme, it's yours for life.
