We ask for First Serial Rights on any story we publish within the magazine and online. This means the story must not have appeared anywhere else, either in print or online in the English spoken language. If you have had a story printed overseas in a language other than English then we can consider accepting it for our publications. Regrettably we cannot offer a translation service.
We also ask for a period of exclusivity (usually no more than six months) and the right to keep the story in print thereafter.
We accept submissions throughout the year for inclusion in the next available publication. Deadlines are only applicable to our competitions.
We run regular competitions throughout the year, with prizes including cash, publication in our magazine and end of year anthology. These competitions introduce a little variety to our repertoire and often cover genres and we don't usually publish.
If you would like to receive updates on our competitions, other calls for submissions, and general news about Coast and Country Art & Literature Magazine; please sign up for our newsletter.
Summer at the Coast. We are running three competitions: Prose Fiction & Poetry, Art, and Photography. The deadline for entries is 31 AUGUST 2017. Full details here.
What We Pay.
We pay £25.00 for every piece of artwork, photograph, prose or poem we feature in the magazine &/or online.
Artists and Photographers Join Our Marketplace
We produce artwork for sale through our website, Pop Up shops, shows and exhibitions. Artwork we produce is mounted and framed within a solid wood frame which is made in the UK. Find out more here.
What we are looking for.
We are looking for all subject matter associated with living in or near Coast and Country! Stories can be any genre although we are unlikely to consider graphic horror or anything with extreme violence, profanity or graphic sexual content.
Do we give feedback.
We regret we are unable to give feedback or an explanation as to why we felt your work could not be used by Coast and Country. However, just because one piece of work has not been accepted doesn't mean another won't be, so do keep trying.
When will you hear if you've been accepted.
We aim to contact you within four weeks of you submitting your work to us. However, please be patient, we are a small business with limited personnel. But, we will read and carefully consider every piece of work sent to us and will respond whether you are accepted or not.
